The foundation stone of this landmark project was laid at the New Town Convention Centre, West Bengal, by Shri Amit Shah, Hon'ble Union Minister of Home Affairs & Cooperation, in the august presence of Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal, Shri Shankarbhai Chaudhary, Hon'ble Speaker, Gujarat Legislative Assembly and Chairman Banas Dairy, Shri Samik Bhattacharya, President, BJP West Bengal, Hon'ble Ministers of the Government of West Bengal, & senior officials from Governments of India and West Bengal.
The ceremony was also graced by Shri Ashok Chaudhary, Chairman, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), Dr. Meenesh Shah, Chairman, National Dairy Development Board, Dr. Jayen Mehta, MD, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Amul), and distinguished leaders from NDDB, GCMMF, Amul Dairy, & the cooperative sector, reaffirming their shared commitment to strengthening India's farmer-owned dairy movement.
With an investment of nearly ?700 crore, the integrated dairy complex will have a milk processing capacity of 30 lakh litres per day and will house the World's Largest Curd Manufacturing Plant, producing 1,000 MT of dahi and other cultured dairy products daily, along with packaged milk, UHT milk, paneer, ghee, ice cream, sweets, flavoured milk, yoghurt, buttermilk, and other value-added dairy products.
The project will directly benefit over 1.25 lakh dairy farmers in its initial phase, with the potential to connect 2.5 lakh milk producers as operations expand. It will strengthen milk procurement, value addition, rural employment, women's economic empowerment, and farmers' incomes across Eastern India.
Further boosting the state's dairy ecosystem, Shri Suvendu Adhikari ji announced the allocation of 30 acres of land for a state-of-the-art Amul Ice Cream Manufacturing Plant, reaffirming West Bengal's commitment to cooperative-led industrial growth.
In his address, Hon’ble Shri Amit Shah praised Amul's pioneering role in empowering millions of farmers through the cooperative model and expressed confidence that products from the upcoming Amul Bengal Dairy would carry the rich taste of Bengal to consumers across the country.
